After a huge success at this year\’s festival, it\’s safe to say most attendees definitely enjoyed themselves during the 2014 Spring Awakening Music Festival, held here in Soldier Field. However, shortly following the event, many attendees took to social media to express their anger with SAMF\’s all ages policy – stating that the younger crowd was inexplicably rowdy and took away from the general experience. In a surprising business move, SAMF has officially announced that next year\’s festival will only allow entry to those 18 years and over.
Alongside the announcement of the age restrictions, SAMF also announced that their 2015 dates and holiday pre-sale tickets will be up for sale soon, prompting anyone who wants to stay up to date to get alerts at their website. They also released the following statement:
In 2015 and moving forward, only those who are 18+ years and older will be permitted into Spring Awakening Music Festival. Our number one priority is the safety of our fans, the artists, and staff. We truly appreciate the support from our younger fans, but with the size of the event and feedback from the fans over the past two years, we\’ve decided that the festival is an experience for adults.
What are your thoughts on the change? Surely, the older crowd will definitely adjust fine to the change – the young ones have already expressed their anger with SAMF\’s new regulations on social media.
