While little details have been made available at this time, New Orleans iconic bounce artist Nickesse Toney, known as Nicky Da B, has passed away. The news was first made available yesterday when fellow Bounce artist Big Freedia had shared the news on his twitter account, stating \”I\’m truly at a loss for words at the news that my friend + fellow Bounce artist @NickyDaB has passed away. #toomanyfunerals R.I.P NickyDaB.\” While there was some initial skepticism amongst online music fans, the news has now been confirmed by his management who released the following statement:
\”It is with heaviness in our hearts today that we confirm the passing of Nicky Da B. Nicky was a beautiful soul and we will always be grateful for his magnetic personality and loving spirit. We were inspired by his talent as much as his tireless optimism, compassion and humility. Our condolences go out to his family at this time.\”
Nicky was most known for his part in Diplo\’s 2012 release \”Express Yourself,\” where he provided the vocals as well. Nicky also was involved in solo projects and his reputation amongst the Bounce music scene will continue beyond his unfortunate passing.
