Music is simply one of the finest mediums of art; some artists believe that it should be appreciated at no cost. Some of the benefits of this include being able to release music without a record label tampering it as well as allowing listeners to have zero obligations to not listen to it. In other words, if it\’s free, why don\’t you take a listen?
Free music allows us to discover new artists we may not have been familiar with and appreciate the ones we already love. Producers like Pretty Lights and Griz have been freely giving our their music for years now; many have taken this trend as well. It also allows the consumer to download straight from the artist rather than illegally downloading it elsewhere and risk downgrading in quality.
I truly support this movement because art should be allowed to freely flow into many people\’s lives. That being said, I\’ve created a segment to share my discoveries.
Friday Freebies will be a weekly thing; what better way to wind down on a tough week and kick off the weekend with free music you may not have explored yet? The formula of Friday Freebies will go something like this: I will post two to four tracks weekly, along with an \”In Case You Missed It\” (ICYMI) track that was released less recently. The first track will be the featured one and some tracks may be replaced with new EPs or albums as long as they\’re free! Also, there will sometimes be a common theme implemented which can include anything from specific labels to shared genres. That being said, I proudly present to you:
Friday Freebies: Weekend of October 3rd, 2014
Bassnectar – Loco Ono (Bassnectar & Stylust Beats Remix)
Kicking off both his Fall Tour and our first Friday Freebie ever is Bassnectar with a remix of \”Loco Ono.\” He teams up with Stylust Beats to remix his own track, a big favorite from his newest album Noise Vs. Beauty. The rework gives us a cleaner, deeper bass that feels way groovier than the original. He played this remix at North Coast in August where I first heard it; there will be more remixes and free music from him in the next coming weeks as his notorious Fall Tour, known for being absolute chaotic mayhem, kicks off this weekend. You can catch Lo on Halloween in Peoria, Illinois.

Pretty Lights – Around The Block (SnellVillain Remix)
The second track comes from a rework done by SnellVillain to a popular PL tune. This track has been played by the man himself in many of his recent sets and gives the original a run for its money with an aggressive bassline and heavy drums.

Oh MY – End Of The Tunnel
This fresh, groovy track comes from the likes of Oh MY. The sub-heavy tune is full of hip-hop and funk influences that make it into something special. Expect to hear more from this duo in the future, which consists of MAGZ and ybeats.

In Case You Missed It:
This week\’s ICYMI comes from Gramatik with a massive album release earlier this year with \”The Age Of Reason.\” Originally, this album was available for download via torrent, but now it can be directly downloaded through SoundCloud. This album is packed with plenty of funky guitar and future sounds to get you through the weekend. Some of my favorites include \”Bluestep\” and \”Get A Grip.\”
