A fire broke out at a warehouse party in California on Friday, December 2, leaving at least nine people dead with 25 more currently missing.
The warehouse is located in Oakland’s Fruitvale district. The event housed a collective of artists with 100 people gathered at the event. The electronic band Golden Donna were performing for their 100% Silk Tour.
Fire crews were still working to put out the blaze as of Saturday morning, meaning they have not had a chance to thoroughly search the wreckage and the death toll could rise. It is still unclear how the fire started and it is not known if the venue was equipped with proper fire hazard conditions.
