It\’s been months of teeth-grinding, kandi-making, and internet speculation since tickets went on sale for the Las Vegas edition of Insomniac\’s Electric Daisy Carnival, but now, the most important list in American raving has found its way into your home. That\’s right people, the EDC lineup is out and needless to say, it\’s incredible.
After teasing us last night with a cryptic rendition of the massive roster, you can now gaze freely at the list of over 200 of the worlds top DJ\’s. While a lineup that is already confined to electronic music doesn\’t have much wiggle room as far as artist versatility goes, the folks at Insomniac have found creative ways to present familiar acts. For example, instead of booking EDC regulars Claude Vonstroke and Green Velvet separately, the two house legends will take the stage together as Get Real, their new collaborative project. Duke Dumont will follow up his live set at Coachella by bringing his piano and his band to perform a live set at EDC this year as well. Deorro, who has probably performed less than ten times in 2015, will grace the speedway as well.
In addition to the fresh look at repeated artists, the EDC lineup has much less of the giants you\’d expect and has replaced them with old-school legends and budding innovators. Instead of Knife Party, there\’s DJ Jazzy Jeff, a legendary producer and DJ that helped build the career of dozens of rappers including Will Smith. Instead of Zedd, Moby found his way onto the lineup. Moby has been a significant force in the music industry for over 20 years and was one of the originators of electronic music back in the 90\’s. There would be no EDC without Moby.
However, for those of you who crave the mainstream sounds and plan on staying in or around Kinetic Field for the duration of your stay in Vegas, you will not be disappointed either. Avicii, Calvin Harris, Kaskade, Afrojack, Tiësto, Above & Beyond, and more classic EDC favorites will be there to fill your hearts with the warmth only giant big-room synths can provide.
