Production company and promoter CID Presents cancelled the inaugural edition of Mad Decent Beach Party in a mutual decision with Diplo\’s Mad Decent company. In a vague statement posted on their website, Mad Decent cited the inability \”to host the weekend in the exact style we are accustomed\” as the reason for the cancellation. A spin off of the popular Mad Decent Block Party, the Beach Party edition was set for President\’s Day weekend in Riviera Maya, Mexico.
The aborted festival was set to feature of course Diplo himself, but also industry heavyweights like Dillon Francis and Zeds Dead as headliners. Going above and beyond the usual refund process, Mad Decent is also reimbursing fans for their airfare, and promise direct access to customer service.
The statement reads in full:
The CID Presents team and Mad Decent crew are both committed to providing fans with stellar experiences, and after thorough consideration, we have realized we are not able to host the weekend in the exact style we are accustomed. Therefore, unfortunately we have decided to cancel this event. Our sincerest apologies to each person this decision impacts.
Fans who purchased all-inclusive packages will be refunded in full, including related airfare expenses, and will receive direct communication from CID Presents in the coming days.
The popular music label and brand began in Philadelphia in 2005. Thomas Wesley Pentz, better known as Diplo, started Mad Decent to share his love of dance music with more of a world sound. Embracing both hip hop and EDM, Mad Decent is responsible for the ubiquity of moombahton, shaping the sound of everyone from Skrillex to Justin Bieber.
