Update: Disney has responded to Deadmau5\’s complaint. \”Disney vigorously protects its trademark rights, and we oppose Mr. Zimmerman’s attempt to register a logo that is nearly identical to our trademarks for his commercial exploitation,\” a Disney spokesperson tells Rolling Stone. \”Our opposition is not about the use of the Deadmau5 costume. The music was appropriately licensed, and there is no merit to his statement.\”

Deadmau5 is calling for war.
If you haven’t been keeping up with this Disney-deadmau5 incident, it’s time to get caught up.
Here are the basics: Disney, after undergoing investigation, is attempting to prohibit deadmau5 from trademarking his logo in the US, stating that it could confuse individuals and interfere with their own means of business. Joel Zimmerman, refusing to back down by any means, is firing shots of his own. Over Twitter, of course, but firing shots nonetheless.
Zimmerman argued during the initial time period of getting the trademark-opposition that it seemed nonsensical for Disney to come after him for a logo he established ten years ago. Sticking to that argument, the artist threw in some legal action of his own.
Deadmau5 has officially filed a cease-and-desist against Disney for a “Re-Micks” that was illegally done to his song “Ghosts ‘n’ Stuff” a few years ago. He even posted the official document on Twitter.
So as the story continues to unravel, feel free to visit deadmau5\’s twitter page for the complete rant that happened not too long ago. We knew the 33-year old producer was not easily moved, but this…this just got interesting.
And wait we shall.
