The Chainsmokers took to the American Music Awards stage for the first time Sunday night, performing their hit song \”Closer\” with Halsey and special guest drummer Travis Barker of Blink-182. It\’s no doubt the DJ duo has had tremendous success in 2016. The artists have been nominated for 4 different awards, including Favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist, New Artist of the Year, Collaboration of the Year (for \”Don\’t Let Me Down\” with Daya) and Favorite Duo or Group.
The duo also took home the award for Favorite Electronic Dance Music Artist and delivered a surprised speech thanking their team and fans, as well as the American Music Awards for bringing electronic music to the forefront of the awards.
