Next to step up for Troupe Records is young and hot UK property Cera Alba. Having made a name for himself on labels like Hot Creations, VIVa Music, Gruuv and LOST Records to name a few, the house head is on a steady rise to the top.
Across two tracks here, the Cera Alba edges towards a slightly heavier, darker house sound and the results are hugely compelling.
First track Dura is a grinding, dirty and dubbed out house track with churning drums, slapped hi hats and a subtle cacophony of other hits that grows ever more boisterous. Yelping female vocals, a tough FM baseline and molten melodies all bleed into this warehouse sounding track and finish it in fine style.
Next up, Event Horizon is a dubbed out Mr G style effort couched in deep drums, with simple but effective percussive hooks and search light like synths scanning the backdrop. An instructive male vocal adds an element of tribalism and the way Alba tweaks things just sets the whole thing on fire.
