New York deep house duo Samuel Walker and Gavin Royce are the minds behind acclaimed original tracks such as “Sister,” as well as remixes of songs like 12 Stories and Digitaria’s, “Bright Lights.” Their groovy pedigree can be witnessed through the support they’ve received from classic heavy hitters such as Pete Tong, Adam Beyer, Solomun, and Insomniac Events’ own Pasquale Rotella.
In October of last year, Walker and Royce showed off their live performance skills during a live set at Mixmag’s DJ lab. Additionally, their works are frequently played in the sets of many members of the genre-defining house label Dirtybird, and they were invited to play at its eponymous Campout last year.
This support has obviously been continuous, as their recently released EP, “Boy,” contained their first tracks released through Dirtybird’s label itself. They will be playing at the Birdhouse stage at Mysteryland in the Netherlands this weekend. If you consider yourself a fan of funky house beats and are not familiar with these two, it’s definitely worth taking a look.
