The most Superbowl championships in history
The NFL is the most popular sport in America, with the most supporters and the most gambling action in the states as well. Slowly, American Football is reaching other areas of the world, but in America it is more popular than any other sport.
The NFL peaks every year with the Superbowl, the ultimate win for any NFL team, and the goal of the game. When you try to think of a good football team, you have to consider if they have ever gone to the Superbowl and how many wins they have held up. Superbowl wins mean a lot to the players, coaches, and supporting fans.
This is a game in which the top teams from the AFC and NFC compete to see who is the tip-top best football team that year.
If you are looking to bet on the Superbowl, you want an idea on who is the best team. If a team reaches the Superbowl, and they have a history of wins, then this will give you a good idea of who to bet on. You can check out more on this at Fanduel.
But who are the teams who have outshone the rest with the most Superbowl wins?
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for their championships. They won four Superbowls in the 70s, and won back-to-back Superbowls twice in a row. They have won six Superbowls in total, and their last win was in 2009.
So, while this team has an impressive amount of wins, we cannot say that if they made it to the Superbowl now they would be a sure thing, as the teams and coaches change over time they may not have the same winning streak as before. Since the Steelers haven’t won a Superbowl since 2009, betting on them because they had a lot of past wins may not be the best choice, however, you cannot deny that their win streak throughout NFL history is outstanding.
New England Patriots
On par with the Steelers is the New England Patriots, they also won six Superbowls over history. They had an amazing duo with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick, they won back-to-back titles in ‘04 and ‘05, They also started winning again in 2014, beating the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in what is remembered as being a very memorable game. The Patriots finally tied with the Steelers in their amount of Superbowl wins when they faced the Los Angeles Rams in 2019,
If you were looking for a team to bet on based on their winning streak, the Patriots are probably a better shout as their wins are more current than the Steelers, with their most recent win being 2019.
San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers have won five Superbowls. Although much like the Steelers, their wins have not been so recent. Their five wins were all before the Millennium, in 1982, 1985, 1989, 1990, and 1995. Like the last two, as you can see they also achieved a double streak, with their wins in 1989 and 1990. They have also played in 7 Superbowls in total, which is ranked 3rd all-time in the NFL.
You cannot deny that their history is impressive, maybe they just need a comeback to bring them back to their former glory!
Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys have also had five Superbowl wins, however, like the 49ers, it hasn’t been for a while. Their first win was in 1972 against the Miami Dolphins, and their second in 1978 against the Denver Broncos. In 1993, they won the Superbowl against the Buffalo Bills, and in 1994 they won again against the Buffalo Bills. Their most recent win was in 1996 against the Steelers.
Like the previous listed they also had a ‘double-whammy’ with two consecutive wins in 2993 and 1994, and what’s even better is that they were wins against the same team!
However, since these wins have not been for a while, we hope they can make a comeback in the Superbowls to come.
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers have won four Superbowls, what is impressive about this team is that they won the first ever Superbowl in 1966 against the Kansas City Chiefs. They won again (yet another consecutive streak) in 1967. They also won in 1997 against the New England Patriots, and their most recent win was in 2011 against the Steelers.
The majority of their wins were at the very start of the Superbowl. However, is it possible they could make a comeback? We hope so.
New York Giants
Like the Packers, the New York Giants also have four Superbowl wins on their record, however they are the first on this list to not have two consecutive wins. They won the games in 1987, 1991, 2008, and 2012.
They also have four NFL championships as well, we get the impression they like the number four.
Other teams to keep in mind
Aside from these teams, we should also mention the teams that have had three Superbowl wins, including the Denver Broncos, the Washington Redskins, and the Los Angeles/ Oakland Raiders. The teams with two wins include the Kansas City Chiefs, The Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Baltimore Ravens, and the Indianapolis Colts.
Players with the most Superbowl wins
While the teams matter in terms of their Superbowl wins, there are some players that have more Superbowls wins than any team has had. The biggest winner is Tom Brady.
Brady has a total of seven Superbowl wins in his career. He has the most wins by team’s or any NFL player of all time. It is quite the feat of his career. He won the Superbowl in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2024. If you are placing a bet on a team, and Tom Brady is on that team, your money is on him. This legend has won two consecutive Superbowls, seven in total, and has had some of the most recent wins as well. Until his career ends, our money is on Brady for sure!
