Fyre Festival has been caught in so many scandals since its inception and execution that it’s hard to keep track of what is going on and what the conclusion of this saga will be. In the latest episode, employees are reporting not receiving their fair pay.
An employee’s record of employment was never found when he requested his cash transfer. Management at Fyre promised to deliver payment, but never actually seemed to do it. Billy McFarland, co-founder of the festival, was recorded stating “After conferring with our counsel and all financial people, unfortunately we are not able to proceed with payroll. We’re not firing you. We’re just letting you know that there will be no payroll in the short term.” McFarland continued to state that payments can’t be made “past today.”
We can only hope this all gets settled very soon. Listen to a transcript courtesy of VICE News of the meeting held by McFarland.
