Pasquale Rotella appeared in Los Angeles court on Monday to face charges for bribery, embezzlement, conspiracy and conflict of interest.
Rotella, owner of Insomniac events, allegedly used more than $2.5 million in funds from the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum towards paying off city officials. According to reports, he used the coliseum to host raves/all-night parties.
He and five other men were indicted and Rotella posted $1.8 million for bail. His next scheduled court date is July 29 and, if convicted, he could be locked up for nearly 14 years in prison
But Rotella’s attorney, Gary Jay Kaufman, said the charges are “politically motivated and publicity driven” and feels confident his client will be found innocent.
“Rotella has always acted lawfully and appropriately with respect to all of his dealings with the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum,” Kaufman told Radar. “Any allegations of wrongdoing on the part of Mr. Rotella by the District Attorney’s office are completely baseless and flat-out wrong, both on the law and on the facts.”
