Mike Inzano (INZO) is an up and coming artist out of Chicago who comes well equipped with a versatile and fresh new sound. INZO has been classically trained on the piano since age four, and began developing interests with drums at age six. This passion for music and a variety of genres is directly reflected in his works – there are definitely no boundaries when it comes to INZO\’s unique sound.
I was lucky enough to be able to sit down and talk to the up and coming producer about what he does, where his inspiration comes from, and where he\’s headed in the future.
So where are you from? What do you do? How did you get into making music?
INZO: I was born in the suburbs of Chicago, living in the city now. I am a full time music producer and DJ. How’d I get into making music? Well I have been playing piano since I was 4, drums since I was 6, and have been playing and making music since then. I started producing the kind of music that I do now, a little over 1 year ago.
What or who are you inspired by?
INZO: My inspiration typically comes in 2 forms. Current feeling/emotions, and other music. Some, but not all, artists who I have been strongly influenced by include (in no particular order): Above & Beyond, The Chainsmokers, Porter Robinson, Drezo, The Naked and Famous, Angels & Airwaves, 3lau, Ilan Bluestone, Kaskade, Jai Wolf.
Who have you collaborated with so far? Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?
INZO: I have collaborated with Milk n Cooks as well as Stratus. Both collaborative tracks are almost done! I have also collaborated with vocalist Alina Renae. & at the moment, if I could, I would collaborate with Jai Wold or Drezo.
You\’re releasing your new remix of \”Freeze Time\” via Red Tag today. Tell me about the track and what went into making it.
INZO: This remix is one of my better productions I think. I started and finished the general structure of the song in two days, then completed all the tedious work in about one week. It started as an original, with original chords and melody. The melody and structure of this song I think is rather epic. That’s what I strive for in my production. I like my songs to give off an epic, beautiful, and massive feeling. Anyways, so I happened to hear the original “Freeze Time” track and realized that the track was in the same key as mine. So I searched if there was an a cappella to the song available online. There was, I downloaded it, threw the a cappella into my project, made a few adjustments and edits to the vocals, then it was pretty much done.
Your track \”Brocaine Camaro\” was released via Kitchin Records in 2015. What was it like hitting over 100,000 plays? Did you ever think your track would blow up like that?
INZO: So when my track Brocaine Camaro came out, I had some fairly high expectations for it, my highest hope was for it to hit 100k, but it definitely still came as a surprise and I’m still stoked it hit 100k. I knew it was a fairly unique track, and that the quality of the production was good. I had some great feedback from it, but a lot of the credit goes to Kitchin Records. They did a great job with the release and got my song into the ears of a lot of people.
One more and I\’ll stop bothering you: Where do you see yourself in the next couple of years?
INZO: In the next couple of years? I really hope to see myself having better produced and more unique songs, as well as performing in front of more people who are there for MY music. I want people to relate and get certain feelings, emotions, or memories when they hear my music. Overall, over the next couple of years, I just want to better myself as an artists, producer, DJ, and person in every single aspect.
