There are dance music tracks, and there are those that tap so perfectly into emotionality and sound design that they become art. That\’s what Prince Fox has done with his latest masterpiece, a collaborative effort with Hailee Steinfeld out on a Casablanca Records today. The New York based DJ/producer told Billboard Mag the reasons for tapping the Oscar nominee for his vocalist were raw and organic:
I lost my grandfather in November, and right after that is when I started working on \’Fragile,\’ … His birthday is December 11, and so is Hailee\’s, and she came into my life right after he passed away … I don\’t know if you\’re superstitious or not, but something\’s gotta be right about it.
The track, which has been teased for months now, was certainly well worth the wait. \’Fragile\’ is beautiful in its simplicity, highlighting the sheer importance of the lyrics (arranged by songwriter buddy Lil Aaron), while simultaneously showcasing Fox\’s ability to build soundscapes with immense depth. It definitely evokes elements of the future genre, while maintaining a poppy quality that could catapult it to the mainstream radio listening audience.
