Artist Spotlight: Who is Slushii?

Another phantom producer has made quite the splash in the dance music industry over the past week, and it seems like her/his bouncy trap-inspired material may just stick. Equipped with the #SlushItUp slogan all over his social media pages, it may come as no surprise that SLUSHII is represented under the same genius management behind #mellogang marketing menace, along with Jauz, DotCom, and Ookay to name a few. And with viral remixes of Zedd/Selena Gomez, Kaskade, Galantis and Botnek — in addition to a Valentine\’s Day collab with marshmello — it\’s no wonder this producer is turning heads left and right.

We don\’t know much about the mysterious person behind the mask just yet, but that\’s the whole point of this new artist marketing trend is to let the music stand on it\’s own. All in all, the five total tracks released to date fall somewhere in the heavy house / future bass range of the EDM spectrum. Think about it this way: If the hard synths of Jauz style house were to have a baby with the melodic, 808-laced future bass of marshmello, then it would be the sound of SLUSHII. This would at least lend some credibility to the theory that marshmello is multiple producers under Red Light Management\’s Moe Shalizi. No one disagree that the material is catchy, but we will have to wait to see if SLUSHII\’s sound catches on or if it just delutes marshmello\’s listener market.
