What has felt like an eternity for Skrillex fans has now finally come to an end. Skrillex, in collaboration with Apple Music, premiered the official music video of his remix to GTA\’s \”Red Lips\”, alongside an official iTunes release. The remix, which marks the first Skrillex release in quite sometime, has been played out since January, leaving fans awaiting the release for months. Alongside the release of the record, was of course the music video that released that Skrill claims took 6 months to complete. In an exclusive interview with Pitchfork, the 27-year-old producer stated:
I came up with it with Grant [Singer, director]. The first thing that went through my head when I heard the song is that it starts out kind of pretty, but still dark. It feels almost schizophrenic. The way Sam Bruno, the vocalist, delivers the song, it feels like she’s afraid of something. The idea was, what if this girl was sitting here by herself, and when the key changes in the song, the sky just went black and these creatures come out from behind and it’s this nightmare she’s running from? It’s this girl in your head, and this is what she’s seeing.
Honestly, this video is extremely intense, however, greatly encapsulates the mood and theme behind the song in the first place. If you\’re interested to see what all the buzz is about, you can view the video below, or you can stream the song in its entirety below.
