Eventually, 12:30am struck. Then 12:40am passed. And finally, 12:51 came around and the crowd roared as Odesza took the stage. The stage remained dark, and Odesza filled the Aragon with bass and drums. The stage exploded in beautiful lights and sounds as Odesza brought in the night with a bang. My jaw was practically on the floor, and my smile was beaming from ear to ear.
From the second Odesza stepped on stage until they wrapped up the night with their final song, Odesza brought everything they had to give and then some. Odesza showed off their album \”In Return\” in the most amazing way possible on Saturday night. Between the impeccable delivery of every song, the mesmerizing lights, and the at home atmosphere, Odesza\’s set could not have been more incredible. Throughout the 90 minute set, Odesza dropped hits like \”All We Need\”, \”Bloom\”, and \”White Lies\” off of their 2014 album \”In Return.\” At one point, they slowed down the night with a beautiful performance of \”Kusanagi.\” Odesza closed out with their hit song \”Say My Name\” featuring Zyra, and then surprised the crowd with a phenomenal encore of IPlayYouListen (my favorite Odesza song…ever). By the end of the show, my jaw was pretty much breaking through the floor of the Aragon.
I was lucky enough to see Odesza this year at Electric Forest and Lollapalooza, where of course, they brought everything they had to give just like they did at the Aragon on Saturday night. Harrison and Clayton (Odesza) put so much heart and soul into each and every performance…through every interaction with the crowd and every beat of the drum, there was meaning. And there always is meaning. Odesza consistently puts in so much thought and passion into each and every set of theirs. Through every single song on Saturday night, I was blown away with Odesza\’s performance. And I\’m sure I will consistently be blown away by Odesza for years to come.
Odesza this is an ode to you. Harrison and Clayton, you two absolutely killed it in Chicago this weekend. Thank you for always putting your whole heart into your performances. Thank you for yet another unforgettable experience. I hope I can be taken on another beautiful ride with your music soon.
