After two deaths of young females at HARD Summer in August, HARD has been dealing with some problems regarding its October Day of the Dead festival. On top of enforcing serious police involvement, the latest to arise is a 100% press blackout from the festival. So don\’t be expecting any media coverage this year to all of those unable to attend.
HARD sources offered no explanation regarding this media blackout, but did state that this hardline policy is across-the-board.
The blackout policy may be due to constant pressure from Los Angeles County\’s Board of Supervisors. This LA Board forced Live Nation – HARD\’s parent corporation – to cap capacity at 40,000 attendees, as well as making the required age 21 and up. This policy, in turn, left Live Nation and HARD scrambling.
With the County of Los Angeles cracking down on the LA dance scene, it looks like the troubles for HARD are only beginning. HARD Day of the Dead is scheduled to take place this weekend, October 31st and November 1st, at the Fairplex.
