In the EDM sub-genre explosion this past couple years, one particular taste as hit particularly hard amongst the bass music community: bass house. This fusion of House, Dubstep, and Electro is blowing up with names like Jauz, Habstrakt, and Datsik\’s new collaborative project, Ephwurd.
Datsik and his collaborator, Bias Haus are following hits like their remix of Major Lazer\’s \”Lean On\” with ETC! ETC! and \”Rock The Party\” with Jauz with their brand new original, \”Duckface\”. This song begins with slight future house feel and some catchy vocals from Canadian rapper, DKAY. \”Snapchat that fat a**. Don\’t Snapchat no duckface.\” It\’s a pretty compelling message followed by a heavy, yet groovy drop.
As Dr. Fresch said in a recent interview with EDM Chicago, he predicted that more and more artists will be borrowing more underground styles and incorporating, them into the mainstream to make more \”tasteful big hits\”, and I definitely think this track falls into that category. Ephwurd and the other big names in bass house are sure to be putting out big things in the future.
