Despite the increased output of deep house and other funkier styles of EDM coming from the U.K., the Scottish master of pop, Calvin Harris, has paid little attention. While fellow Brits like Disclosure and Gorgon City are putting out tracks that helped shift the direction dance music is taking, Calvin has stuck to his infectious formula of popular house music and remained on the top of the charts.
Now, after recent piano driven success of his hacienda remix of \”Pray To God\” that he shared with Mike Pickering, Calvin has called upon an unlikely choice for his first real step into the deeper world of house music, \”How Deep Is Your Love,\” his new single with Disciples.
Hailing from South London, Disciples are a trio of producers who were first brought to our attention with their dark downtempo hit, \”They Don\’t Know.\” After being featured on air by legends like Annie Mac and Pete Tong, this collaboration with Calvin Harris is sure to keep them around for a while.
As can be inferred from the title, \”How Deep Is Your Love,\” will likely be deep house banger to be heard for the remainder of festival season. Combining Disciples ominous production style with Calvin\’s knack for pop vocals (and vocalists), Ina Wroldsen\’s voice soars on the funky bassline and white hot piano beat.
