What is the “Gumball 3000”? Well the “Gumball 3000” is a 3,000-mile British international motor rally that happens to take place on public roads. It is a fundraiser that puts some of the world’s most expensive cars on display which gives people the chance to donate. With the donations that are given and cars that are bought, all of the money goes to the “Gumball 3000 Foundation”. The foundation “has been established to benefit underprivileged youth through Education, Infrastructure and environmental projects”. The foundation builds schools, parks, or a local skatepark, all to help the youth stay out of trouble. Now the location of the Gumball 3000 changes every year. The locations for this years “Gumball 3000” starts in Stockholm and ends in Las Vegas. Yes, I said Las Vegas. Now with it being a huge transatlantic event you would only assume it would bring in some big names. One of the big names that attends annually and is a well known racer is Joel Zimmerman or better known as Deadmau5.
With Deadmau5 being in attendance that also meant he would bring some awesome things around for the auction. This time around Deadmau5 brought his McLaren 650’S and P1 with “Ace of Spades” and “Queen of Hearts” graphics on them. He also brought along for the auction a custom made “Ace of Spades” Deadmau5 head which was selling for $30,000-$40,000. But wait there’s more! He also brought a drum signed by himself and famous drummer Tommy Lee from “Motley Crue” which was selling for $20,000 to $30,000.
With Tommy Lee in attendance for the “Gumball 3000” him and Deadmau5 have gotten a chance to spend some time together. From posting videos of them “blowing sh*t up in the desert” earlier this week it’s not hard to tell that they are having a good time for a good cause.
At the end of the day the merchandise that Deadmau5 had brought with him had sold for $60,000 which was then given to the foundation. It’s great when you can participate in something you love to do and still help give back to the community.
With Deadmau5’s anticipated set at Bonnaroo next week as the first EDM artist to ever headline the What stage it is safe to assume we will probably hear more about Deadmau5 in the near future!
At the bottom you can check out the signed Drum and the custom Deadmau5 helmet which was posted by Resource Magazine!
At Saturday\’s @Gumball3000 awards/auction in Vegas, a @deadmau5 helmet and @MrTommyLand autographed drum netted $60K!
