Just days prior, Tomorrowland revealed its first artist; one that few, if any, could have predicted. The flagship festival for popular electronic music announced the National Orchestra of Belgium as its first major act set to grace the festival in 2015. Since then, more familiar faces of Tomorrowland have been announced as it was revealed today that both Avicii and Solomun will be returning to the festival.
Despite the steady reveal of some of dance music\’s popular acts, perhaps a bigger buzz has been created with the announcement of Tomorrowland\’s first vinyl-only stage set to debut this year. The festival has partnered with Cocoon Recordings and its label head, Sven Väth to make the concept a reality.
This is now the second major festival we have seen in the last week to progress towards fronting new stages for less conventional factions of the electronic spectrum. Ultra Music Festival similarly announced the \”Resistance\” project, a concept stage designed to celebrate the \”underground house sub genres.\” If successful, this experimentation could be a sign of big changes to come on the festival circuit.
